Maria van Reigersberch at the Prinsenhof

During her internship at Museum Prinsenhof Delft, Iris Jocker contributed to increasing the visibility of women in the museum. In addition to the portrait of Hugo de Groot, his wife Maria van Reigersberch is now also on display. She played a significant role in his legendary escape: when Hugo was sentenced to life imprisonment at Loevestein Castle, Maria and her maid Elsje van Houweningen devised the escape plan, enabling Hugo to flee the castle hidden in a book chest.
